From Andes Mountains into Amazonia

Three weeks of travelling throughout Ecuador. It was the first time we did this trip as part of a group of six people. Many treks through the Andes and the Amazon, with many waterfalls in very remote places, swimming in rivers, and hiking in a volcanic area, virgin forest and indigenous lands. Tasting various tropical fruit, such as cocoa, wayusa, plantains, palmito, pineapple, granadilla, taxon and many medicinal plants, recognising and learning about their properties, and tasting them. There were also some hot springs and thermal water pools.

Part of our stay and experience of living among indigenous Kichwas families was to understand and observe their traditions in terms of thoughts, customs, cosmology, gastronomy, dances and spirituality related to the natural healings performed by the local healers (the 'curanderos').

This time the weather was very changeable and made us, go through all kinds of emotions. And us, the travellers, as well as all the natives, we all experienced the strongest storm of all times. It happened at midnight, after the Ayahuasca ceremony, as were were about to get some rest.

Then we woke up in a place that looked like a lake. We were very close to the main road, which was just above the level of the water. Eventually, as we felt safe, we were able to leave right after breakfast, and again in heavy rain.
